A North Carolina man serving a life sentence for homicide in brief escaped from prison Monday, but was killed when the stolen truck he used to be using overturned on Interstate 85.
In Keeping With the Gaston Gazette, 46-year-vintage David Alan Woods stole a Ford truck belonging to the city of Lowell whilst on a work detail Monday afternoon. The truck was discovered sometime after 2:15 p.m. at the backside of an embankment with its roof overwhelmed.
The Gazette reported that Woods was ejected from the truck.
Woods had pleaded in charge to second-level murder and housebreaking in connection with the 1993 beating dying of 89-yr-antique Roseline Murphy. Prosecutors stated Woods and every other guy, Jeffrey Dickens, broke into Murphy’s trailer to rob her. Investigators stated Dickens beat Murphy to death with a hammer prior to the 2 men left the scene to buy medicine.
In Line With the Gazette, Woods contacted the Sanford Police Division the next day and entered a in charge plea the day ahead of his trial started. Dickens also confessed to killing Murphy and won a lifestyles sentence.
